You may have heard your child talking about this new "Genius Hour" activity happening in the upper intermediate grades. We are getting quite excited about it! Basically, it was inspired by Google who gives their employees 20% of their work time to work on what interests them/ what they are passionate about. As a result, they have seen great success in giving people time to explore and discover new things they are personally interested in. So.. Genius Hour in the classroom: your child will be given the opportunity once a week for about an hour to work on a project that interests them:)
They must research something, create something and then present their experience to the class (in a way they choose). Students will be presenting their ideas on Wednesday but they will be required to go home and ensure the idea is okay with you also:) Let me know if you have any questions! Hopefully your child will have a lot of fun with this project!
